Here is my review for Shades of the Stars. I am giving this book 5 Erlenmeyer flasks. The review will later be posted in the Paranormal tab with the rest of my reviews for books by David James.

Another amazing read by author David James. At the risk of totally sounding like a geeky fan girl I have to say that I love reading the works of David James. The man is amazing! I am always moved by his beautiful and poetic words. His stories are a beautiful blend of reality and magic. The characters have real struggles with life, love, and acceptance set in a magical world. I love so much about the stories that it is hard to sum it up in a review. All of his characters long to be loved and accepted(whether they want to admit it or not). In shades of the Stars we get the shorts The Witch's Curse, The Warrior's Code, and The Enchanter's Fire as well as a sneak peek at the upcoming novel Shadow of the Sun. These powerful short stories give some background of characters in Light of the Moon. Each short is a combination of heartbreak and hope that leaves you hoping and willing the characters to find the love and acceptance that they crave. In many cases the characters need to learn to love and accept themselves as well. Aside from the passionate and artful words of David, I love that the characters are diverse and have their own strengths and weaknesses that help give them great believability. And then there is the wonderful insight into the creative genius that is David James. Shades of the Stars has many looks into David's thoughts and how the characters came to be so to speak. He also gives some definitions and explanations of the magical aspect of the book. He also includes playlists and an interview. I was absolutely entranced by this book from start to finish and cannot wait for Shadow of the Sun. I would like to include some of my favorite quotes that I found moving from each of the shorts in the book. But before I do I need to say read this book, and if you haven't read Light of the Moon read it, seriously do it.

"We are the same, Magda. You are my star, and I am yours. There might be a piece of our forever that we cannot see, but we must believe it’s there, waiting at the end.”
He breathed, “Our love is infinite.” -- The Witch's Curse

"Momma was right. We do not need love to live, but without love life seems impossible."-- The Witch's Curse

"Each of you has a past you are ashamed
of; whether you were abandoned, left alone, or simply lost, we have rescued you and given you the possibility of a new fate within the great legacy of the Order.”-- The Warrior's Code

"There is nothing unnatural about loving, no matter who it is we love. Nothing unnatural at all,"--The Warrior's Code

I was told that fire burned. It destroyed.
It was too much for anyone to handle.
But this fire wasn’t like that.
This fire was strength.
Breaking through the cold prison of death-
This fire was life." --The Enchanter's Fire

I felt like nothing without my heart.Without Shane. -- The Enchanter's Fire

And a peek into Shadow of the Sun........

Calum.
His name was life to me, hope.
I would keep that memory forever, and until I saw
him again, until I felt his lips brush softly against mine, I would dream of his arms around me. I would dream of flying, warm even as the cold of night touched close.
I would dream of Calum. Always.

See absolutely beautiful. <3

As you can tell by my other reviews, I LOVE David James. The man has some serious talent. And I got to read the ARC of Shades of the Stars. It was amazing!

Hey everybody! Sorry it has been a few days. We are trying to keep up. Here's what is going on with us......

First of all we received our first two ARCs in the same week!! Holy cow I don't know about Beth but I officially feel like a blogger now. The first ARC was Love In All the Wrong Places by Audrey Harte. This is her first book and we are excited that she gave us the amazing opportunity to be a part of her blog tour. Her book releases April 12th and I am in the middle of it now. The second ARC we received was Once You Go Demon (OYGD) by the fabulous Killian McRae. This is the second book in the Pure Souls series. The first one was Pure and Sinful which is reviewed in the Paranormal section of our blog! I LOVED Pure and Sinful and am SUPER stoked about OYGD!!

Second of all the To Be Read list keeps growing exponentially. We bought Walking Disaster by the wonderfully talented Jamie McGuire and I am dying to get it started! It is first to be read as soon as the ARCs are finished. There are so many other books we want to read too. The days are just never long enough for us avid readers.

Third we have reviews to catch up on. Two books that were recently read that I adored are Depths by the wonderful duo Steph Campbell and Liz Reinhardt, as well as Reckless by none other than the very talented S.C. Stephens! I have to be honest Reckless has been a very hard review for me to write. I loved it, but I am so sad to see Kellan Kyle go. So it has been extremely hard for me to put my thoughts on this book in a review. I am just afraid I won't do it justice.

So as you can see we are working on a lot of stuff for you guys. We will try to get done soon and post more reviews and blog posts more often. All of this mixed in with our jobs at the hospital puts a lot on our plate. But we are so happy to be doing this and we really appreciate all the support! So here is a big THANK YOU to the followers if our blog and the authors who have been helpful and patien and supportive of us as we learn to balance our lives with the added adventure of this blog that we love so much. We couldn't do it without you! If you have reading suggestions or comments please leave them. We would love the interaction and feedback. Have a great day everyone and happy reading :-)

Some very disturbing information was brought to my attention today. Apparently there is a blogger or bloggers that is participating in a piracy site. As new bloggers this is extremely disheartening. We are here to support authors and share our love of books with the world. We will not participate in or promote sites that participate in piracy. We will participate in legal giveaways. If you cannot afford a book there are many legal ways to read it. E-readers have lend/borrow options and then there are libraries, most of which have e-books now. Let bloggers know what books you are interested in, they can try to set up more giveaways for that author/book. Many authors donate these books at their expense but I have purchased a few out of pocket for our future giveaways. Remember when you illegally obtain an author's work you are stealing from them and you wouldn't want someone stealing from you.

Wow! Just finished Depths! Definetly not dosappointed in the least! Review to come soon.

Can't wait for Limits :)

Thank you ladies for yet another wonderful book!

Heehee had to show off our science side today :)

What books are you reading right now? Do you recommend them?

WOW!

Hey everyone! We just wanted to take a moment to thank you for visiting our new site! We are very excited to see that just three days after announcing it we had 218 viewers in one day! That is more than we had hoped for especially in the first week! We are planning on having a week long give-away. It will be March 24-30.  We have signed paper backs and some author swag. We haven't decided how it'll work just yet.

Please let us know what you think in our guestbook! We greatly appreciate your feedback.

So, back to the books! Currently we are reading/rereading Effortless and Reckless by the fabulous S. C. Stephens. If you haven't make sure to check out this amazing, gut-wrenching books! We dare you not to fall in love with this rock star, Kellan Kyle.

Very excited for the sequel to the book Lengths! Here is a blurb about Depths!!! A huge thank you to the authors for sharing with us!

Cohen Rodriguez, Deo’s hilarious and loyal best friend in LENGTHS, has always been über responsible. He’s kept a steady job, is a generally nice guy, and has had the same steady girlfriend for years. But when she breaks up with him because he's 'not impulsive enough,' Cohen's burned up.
But, just maybe, she’s more right than he wants to admit.
So he starts to date.
A lot.
And he meets some really fun, crazy, smart, weird girls. But no one really feels like the one, and the more girls he dates, the more Cohen’s convinced she isn’t really out there.
Luckily he has Maren— the girl with the sexy voice who always cracks the best jokes, and who Cohen can talk to about anything, even all of his recent dating mishaps. They've been talking daily for a year…on the phone. They talk about orders for work at first, but eventually Cohen finds out that Maren loves baseball and Thai food and she loves going to the beach in the winter and sketching. He looks forward to his talks with Maren, because, like everything else in his life, they’re safe.
Then she asks him.
Do you want to meet?
It's one thing to chat for an hour or two every day. Meeting face to face could ruin the one and only stable, fun woman in his life.
Or it could be the best thing that's ever happened to him.
Cohen has to decide if he's ready to let go of his comfortable fantasy and embrace the girl who can change his luck in love.
